Catawba County Chamber of Commerce Wins Big

We’re happy and proud to report that our very own Catawba County Chamber of Commerce in Hickory has been named a 2016 “Chamber of the Year”!

There are four categories in the competition, and they’re based upon the service area population, number of businesses in the applicant’s jurisdiction and other qualifications. But before even being invited to apply, the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce had to meet minimum standards in at least three of five key performance areas.

An impartial judging committee of industry professionals reviews the applications and selects the finalists in each category based upon their scores. Then, interviews are conducted with leaders from each of those 16 chambers. It’s a multi-stage process, so just to reach finalist status is praiseworthy in and of itself. And being one of the four category winners is truly an honor worth celebrating.

Of course, it’s no surprise that Hickory has achieved more recognition as one of the best mountain towns in North Carolina to call home. In addition to being a longtime mecca for furniture buyers, Hickory has emerged in recent years as a center for culture, conventions, sports and recreation.
