Blacksmithing Studio Workshop

The Western North Carolina Sculpture Center and Sculpture Parking is hosting monthly blacksmithing workshops. Participants can come and learn the basics and once acclimated may be able to come to have access to our equipment. Blacksmith Marc Banks will be happy to help with specific projects or show you the ropes. Slots are 4 hours each and there is a max of 4 participants per slot.

The Western North Carolina Sculpture Center, located on 1,000+ acres in northeast Caldwell County, is “dedicated to connecting people with the arts through exhibitions, interactions with artists, and the opportunity to experience creative processes in an inclusive environment.” Occupying the former historic Patterson School, WNCSC has repurposed the 10,000 sq ft gymnasium into a sculpture studio and gallery, with ample room for large works and materials beneath the 30’ ceilings.  The sculptural processes areMetal Fabrication, Woodworking, Iron Foundry, Blacksmithing and Woodworking. Hands on participation is offered, including workshops and classes.  An impressive array of large scale sculptures are featured on winding meadow path, including an annual rotating exhibition.  The Western North Carolina Sculpture Park and Trail is free and open to the public during daylight hours.
