Here is the latest on our community garden. The planting of the grapes, blueberries and raspberries a couple weeks ago, went very well. The Mirco’s bought two raspberry bushes to complete the last row. Thanks to all who participated, it was fun with everyone pitching in.
We had mulch delivered, and most of it has been spread in the rows. There are just two rows of blueberries that need to be mulched. The mulch is in the raspberry plot if anyone would like to help out with this.
We also started another plot, now called the “Pumpkin Patch”. Cucumbers, rows of squash, acorn squash and zucchini have been planted. Also three rows of watermelon seeds. The squash and watermelons haven’t germinated yet. There is plenty of space left for more rows if anyone would like to add something. Today they tilled the back two areas of the Pumpkin Patch that are designated for pumpkins. So, if you’d like to plant some pumpkin seeds or pumpkin plants, the soil is ready.
As always, as the summer goes on we will need to have people help water and weed. Does anyone have any thoughts as to how we might manage these plots?
